Our place is at Door No. 3/242 in Nakkalpatty. If you know the area, it’s not hard to find, just a regular building where we run Vivasayee Collective Farming Farmer Producer Company Limited. The name Vivasayee is simple because that is what we are—just farmers. We didn't want a complicated name that didn't mean anything to the people around here. Most of us grew up with dirt under our fingernails and we figured it was time we worked as one group instead of everyone struggling on their own. It’s a lot of work coordinating everyone in Nakkalpatty, but it’s better than the alternative. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that, just a few desks and some files at the 3/242 address. The door is usually open, though we might be out in the fields if it's planting season. Life here follows the weather mostly. When it rains, we’re happy, and when it’s dry, we worry about the wells. We put this company together to help each other get seeds and sell what we grow without getting cheated. It’s a plain and honest way to do things. Sometimes the paperwork gets confusing for us, but we help each other out. We’re just a bunch of neighbors in Nakkalpatty trying to do right by our families and the land we’ve been working for years. It’s a slow process but it’s ours and we are proud of it.
