Shri Kenga Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are located in Kasthuri Rengapalayam, which is a quiet spot in Vellodu. Our building is at 4/97, and it’s basically where all the local farmers meet up. We started Shri Kenga because the costs of fertilizers and seeds were getting too high for us to handle one by one. By coming together as a producer company, we can actually talk to suppliers and get better deals. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails and we spend our days out in the sun. The office is just a place to store some records and hold our monthly meetings. It’s not very big, but it serves our purpose. We don’t use any complicated jargon or have a bunch of managers in suits. It’s just us, the people who know the soil of this region best. We grow a variety of things depending on what the season allows. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, and those are the months we spend a lot of time sitting on the porch at the office worrying together. We wanted to create something that would last for our kids so they don't have to struggle as much as we did. It’s a straightforward operation. We just work the land, share the resources we have, and try to keep the business side of things moving along without too much trouble. Sometimes we get things wrong, but we always figure out a way to fix it by the next harvest.
