Down here in Mannavanur, we’ve set up shop at 4-3-68 on Kovil Veettu Theru. It’s a local spot where the farmers come together. Kurinji Malai Farmer Producer Company Limited is really just a group of us trying to get a better deal for our produce. It’s not easy being a farmer these days, so we decided to pool our resources. We spend a lot of time sitting around the table at the office talking about prices and the weather. The building itself is quite old and sits near the temple street. You can hear the bells in the morning. We don't have fancy computers or a big staff. Most of us are out in the fields for half the day. We use this space to collect the harvest and figure out where it’s going. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when everyone shows up at once with their bags. We try to keep it organized with some notebooks and a lot of patience. My nephew helps with the math because he’s good with numbers. We don't do any big promotions. Word just travels from one farm to the next. It’s a way for us to stick together and make sure the work pays off. The air is good up here, and we like the quiet when the work is done. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy and gives us something to focus on together.
