Biroja Devi Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our place is over at Alinagar in Jateswar. It’s where Kashinath Sarkar stays. We are a group of farmers from around this area. Mostly we spend our time thinking about the crops and how the season is going. It's a small setup. Not many people from the big cities come out this way, but we like it just fine. We handle a lot of the local produce. The soil here is decent if you know how to work it. Some days are busier than others, especially when the harvest time comes around. We have a lot of talks about the rain. If it doesn't rain, we worry. If it rains too much, we worry more. That is just how life is for us. We started this company to help the local growers here get a better handle on things. It's hard to do everything alone. When we work together, it's a bit easier to get the seeds and the tools we need. The office is just a simple room where we keep the books and meet up. You can usually find someone there if you stop by during the day. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. We just want to make sure the farming stays steady. Jateswar is a good place for this kind of work. The people here have been farming for generations. We are just carrying that on in our own way now. It’s not about being the biggest, just about being consistent with what we produce and making sure the work is done right.
