Wadhwa Canves Udhyog

Our business is located in Azad Market, specifically in the Hathi Khana area at 22-A/123. We work mostly with heavy canvas materials. The shop floor is usually covered in scraps of fabric and long rolls of material waiting to be cut. It is a noisy place because we have machines running quite often. The air always has a bit of a fabric dust smell to it. We don't have a fancy showroom; it’s more of a workshop where the actual work happens. Most of the people who come to see us are looking for durable covers or industrial bags. We spend our time measuring, cutting, and stitching. It’s hard on the hands and we usually have some thread stuck to our clothes by the end of the day. The building is old and the windows don't open very well, so it gets warm in the summer. We keep our records in big thick folders because we’ve always done it that way. There is no one here in a suit; we all wear clothes that we don’t mind getting a bit dirty. When a big order comes in, we all have to pitch in to get it loaded onto the trucks out front. It’s a practical kind of job and we don't try to pretend it’s anything else. We just focus on the canvas and getting the sizes right for the customers. Our sewing machine is quite old but it still runs better than the new ones we tried once.
