U Like Communication

U Like Communication sits right on the corner of Masjid Road in Batla House. The exact house number is H 443, Jamia Nagar. Being a corner shop is great because we get light from two sides, but it also means we get twice the noise from the traffic. You can always hear the call to prayer from the masjid nearby, which gives the day a nice rhythm. It’s a very busy area, especially in the evenings when everyone is out shopping for groceries or heading home. The shop is usually crowded with people asking about phone plans or looking for a new case for their mobile. I keep a small radio in the corner that plays old songs, though half the time you can’t hear it over the sound of rickshaws outside. The shelves are filled with all sorts of accessories, and I try my best to keep the dust off them, but in Batla House, that’s a never-ending job. There’s a small stool tucked under the counter where I take my lunch break, usually just a quick bite so I don't miss anyone. We’ve been here at H 443 for a long time now, and the building is showing its age with a few cracks in the ceiling. But it’s a solid place, and we know exactly where everything is, even if it looks a bit cluttered to an outsider. It's just how we run things here on the corner of the busy road.
