We’ve been running this little shop called Time & Mobile for a good while now in the Kalkaji Govindpuri Extension area. It’s not a very big place, just enough room for a couple of counters and some repair tools. Most days it’s just me and my brother handling whatever comes through the door. People usually drop by because they’ve cracked their phone screen or the battery isn't holding a charge like it used to. We also have a collection of watches on the wall, mostly simple ones that people wear for work. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people walking to the station. Sometimes it gets so loud we have to shout a bit to be heard. We keep a diary of all the repairs so we don't mix up the phones. It’s a bit old-fashioned but it works for us. We don't have a fancy website or anything. If someone needs something, they just walk in. Sometimes we have to tell people that a part will take three days to arrive from the main market, and most are okay with that. We drink a lot of tea from the stall next door while we work on the delicate circuit boards. It’s a steady life. We know most of the people living in the extension by their first names. We just focus on fixing things properly so they don't have to come back twice for the same problem. It's a modest shop but it's ours.
