The Mobile Com

At The Mobile Com, we are right in the middle of the chaos at Nehru Place G-5/13. If you know this area, you know it’s crowded and loud every single day. Our shop is small, and every inch of the wall is covered with those plastic packets for phone cases and charging wires. There is always a smell of burning solder because someone is usually fixing a broken charging port or a cracked screen at the back bench. The light is a bit too bright and there’s constantly someone asking how much a battery costs. We spend a lot of time just squinting at tiny screws that are easy to lose on the floor. Nehru Place has a weird energy where everyone is trying to find a deal, so we see all kinds of people coming through the door. Some are frustrated because they dropped their phone in water, and others just want a cheap screen protector. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us sitting behind the glass counter. Sometimes we have to tell people their phone is beyond saving, which is never a fun conversation. The floor gets dusty from all the foot traffic, so we sweep it out whenever there’s a quiet minute. It’s a lot of sitting and looking at small screens, but that’s the job. It keeps us busy from morning until the market finally closes up.
