The Earth Communication

The Earth Communication is right by the main bus stand in Nasirpur Village, Pochanpur. Because of the bus stand, there is never a quiet moment. You hear the brakes squealing and the conductors shouting out destinations all day long. It brings in a lot of people who are just passing through. They might have a broken charging port or need a quick fix before their next bus arrives. The shop gets very dusty because of all the vehicles outside, so I spend a lot of time wiping down the glass counters. It’s a small space, mostly taken up by the repair bench and the stool I sit on. I started working here because it was close to where I live. The neighborhood has changed a lot, with more buildings going up, but the bus stand stays the same. Sometimes people just come in to ask for directions or to check the time. I don't mind. It’s part of being in a spot like this. I keep my tools organized in a wooden drawer, but they always end up scattered by the end of the day. The tea guy comes by around four o’clock, and that’s usually the highlight of the afternoon. We don't do anything complicated here, just the usual stuff people need for their phones. It’s a steady rhythm of work and noise that I’ve grown to like.
