Tayal Tent & Light House

We are based in Neb Sarai at the Chandan Singh Market, specifically in the Saidula Jaib area. The shop is usually a mess of colorful fabrics and long coils of electrical wire. If you walk in, you’ll probably have to step over a few crates of light bulbs or some metal frames used for stages. It’s the kind of business where you’re always preparing for the next big party or religious function. We spend a lot of time testing strings of fairy lights to make sure they still work after the last job. The walls are covered with photos of different setups we’ve done over the years, though they are starting to curl at the edges now. It’s a noisy place because there's always someone hammering something or the sound of the truck being loaded outside. We work odd hours, often staying up late to finish a setup or waking up before dawn to take everything down. It’s physical work and your clothes usually end up stained with grease or dust by noon. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting area; you just come in and talk to whoever is nearest the door. Most of our days are spent checking the weather and hoping it doesn't rain on the tents we just put up. It’s just a local business trying to get the job done right so the celebrations go on without any hiccups in the lighting or the seating.
