Sri Lakshmi Sai Tent House

Sri Lakshmi Sai Tent House sits over in Jawahar Nagar at shop SRT 228. Being near RTC Cross Road and Indira Park Road means there is a lot of traffic passing by our doors all the time. Our space is mostly filled with iron poles, heavy folded fabrics, and stacks of chairs that never seem to end. It is heavy work. We spend a lot of time loading things onto trucks or counting how many sets of lights we have left in the back. The shop doesn't look like much from the outside, just a place where we keep the gear for local functions and gatherings. When it rains, we have to move everything fast so the cloth doesn't get ruined. It’s a lot of physical labor and our hands are usually a bit rough from moving the equipment around. Most of the people who come in are neighbors or people planning something small in the area. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. There is an old desk where we write down dates in a notebook so we don't forget who needs what on which day. Sometimes we lose a pen or the phone rings while we are in the middle of hauling a tent frame. It is just the way it goes here. We work when there is work to do and the rest of the time we are just organizing the piles.
