Simran Awnings & Canopies

Our workshop is located at Shakarpur Madhuban Road 1. We spend our days working with heavy fabrics and metal frames for awnings and canopies. It’s a lot of measuring and cutting. If you walk in, you’ll see large wooden tables covered in material and probably hear an old sewing machine running in the back. We also have a small area where we do the welding for the frames, so there’s often that metallic smell and sparks flying occasionally. It’s a practical business. People come to us when they need shade for their shops or homes, and we just figure out the best way to fit the fabric to the frame they want. Sometimes the colors they pick are a bit too bright, but that’s their choice. We do a lot of the installation work ourselves, which means climbing tall ladders and drilling into brick walls. It gets tiring when the sun is beating down on us while we’re trying to secure a canopy. The shop itself is usually cluttered with offcuts of fabric and long tubes of metal. We don’t have a fancy catalog; we mostly just show people photos on a phone of what we’ve done before or samples of the cloth we have in stock. It’s a local operation, and we’ve been in Shakarpur long enough that people just know us. We just keep at it, doing one job at a time until it's finished.
