Sharma Tent & Light House

Sharma Tent & Light House is found in the Govindpuri Extension of Kalkaji, specifically at 1823/12. This is basically where we keep all our gear. We have rows of folded tents, piles of metal poles, and crates full of decorative lights. It is a very physical kind of business. We are often out in the sun loading trucks or setting things up for an event somewhere in the city. The space at 1823/12 is more of a warehouse than a shop. It’s often a bit messy with cables and fabric lying around, especially after a big job when we’ve just brought everything back and haven't had time to sort it out yet. Kalkaji is a big neighborhood, so we are always moving from one street to another. We don't really have a 'front office' style; people usually just call us or come by the gate to see if we are available. It’s hard work, especially during the wedding season when everyone wants lights and tents at the same time. We get pretty tired, but it’s what we’ve always done. The equipment is heavy and needs a lot of maintenance to keep it looking decent. We just stay busy with the work and try to keep the stuff organized at our Govindpuri base. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done for the local community and keeps us moving.
