Safdarjung Club

We are located in Safdarjung Enclave and most people in the neighborhood know the building. It is not a very flashy place, just a solid building where people come to spend some time. I work at the front desk mostly and see the same faces every single day. The sofas in the lobby are a bit old now but they are comfortable enough for a chat. In the afternoons, you can hear the sound of people playing cards or just talking about the news. The garden outside needs a lot of watering when it gets dry in June. We have a few rooms where people can sit and the lighting is a bit dim in the hallways. It stays relatively quiet compared to the main roads nearby. We have to manage the staff and make sure the kitchen has enough supplies for the tea and snacks. Sometimes the air conditioning makes a loud noise, but we just give it a kick and it works again. It feels more like a big house than a formal club. People drop in after work or on Sunday mornings to read the newspapers. We do not have any big rules other than being decent to each other. Life moves a bit slower once you step inside from the Safdarjung Enclave streets. It is just a place for the locals to hang out and relax.
