S H Mohd Ahmed Allawala is located right in the heart of Shahganj Balli Maran at 1357. This area is always packed, and our shop is no different. We’ve been here for generations, I think. My grandfather used to sit in the same spot where I sit now. The building is old, with those thick walls that stay a bit cooler in the summer, though not much. We deal with traditional items and general trade. Our shelves are filled with boxes that have been there for years, and we know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to anyone else. Balli Maran is a loud place with rickshaws and people shouting, and it all spills into the shop. We don’t have a computer for billing; we still use the old ledgers and pens. It’s slower that way, but it works for us. Sometimes we sit out front on the step just to catch a breeze and watch the world go by. The address 1357 is easy to find once you get into the main lane. We get people coming from all over because they remember my father. We don't do any ads or anything. We just open the doors in the morning and wait to see who stops by. It’s a very local way of doing things. The tea here is always hot, and the conversations are usually long. That’s just how we operate.
