About Rishi Electrical & Shamiana House – Event & Planning in Delhi
Over here in Model Town I, at C 4, we run Rishi Electrical & Shamiana House. It is a bit of a mix, I know. On one side we have the electrical supplies like wires and switches, and on the other, we handle the shamiana stuff for local events. It happened because the family had both interests, so we just kept it going together in one spot. When wedding season starts, this place gets really hectic. There are poles and heavy cloth bundles being moved around constantly. The electrical side is a bit quieter but it’s steady work. People in the colony know they can come here if they need a quick fix for a light or if they are planning a small gathering in the park nearby. The shop isn't very large so we have to stack things pretty high. Sometimes I worry a pile of chairs might tip over, but we’ve managed so far. The floor is concrete and stays cool in the winter but it’s hard on the feet. My brother usually handles the bookings for the tents while I look after the shop sales. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just the name painted on the front. It’s a lot of physical labor, especially loading the trucks. By the evening, we are usually pretty tired and just want to close up and head home. It’s been this way for years now, just keeping the lights on.
