Rani Tent & Light House

We are located at 961/36 in Kalkaji. Rani Tent & Light House is basically a warehouse and an office rolled into one. We spend our days surrounded by rolls of fabric, poles, and boxes of light bulbs. When there’s a wedding or a party in the neighborhood, we’re the ones moving stuff around on our backs or in the truck. It’s heavy work and it gets very dusty, especially when the wind picks up. We aren’t decorators with fancy catalogs; we just provide the tents and the lights that people need for their events. The shop at 961/36 is usually a bit of a mess because something is always being loaded or unloaded. We’ve been in Kalkaji for a long time, so people know to come to us when they have a function coming up. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to set things up properly and quickly. The phone rings a lot, mostly people asking about availability for next month or the month after. We just write everything down in a big paper diary that sits on the desk. It’s a practical business. We don't worry about being polished or corporate. We just make sure the lights work and the tents are sturdy enough for the guests. It’s a lot of physical labor, especially in the summer heat, but it’s what we do. We’ve seen many celebrations come and go from this little spot in Kalkaji.
