Public Tent House

Public Tent House is right near Jama Masjid at 119-A. If you know this area, you know how crowded the lanes can get. We’ve been operating out of this small spot for years. It’s mostly just us managing the tents, the bamboo poles, and all the seating arrangements for local events. Being near the mosque means there is always something happening. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading the carts. It is not easy moving heavy things through these narrow streets, but we are used to it by now. The warehouse is usually a mess of fabric and ropes. We try to keep things organized, but when wedding season hits, everything goes out the door. We don't have a big staff, just a few local boys who help us out when things get busy. Most of our work comes from people living nearby who have known us for a long time. They just walk in and tell us what they need. We don't have a computer or anything fancy to track things. We just write it down in a big register. It’s a loud area with all the rickshaws and people passing by, but it’s home for the business. Sometimes we have to work late into the night to get a stage ready for the morning. It’s just the way it goes here at Jama Masjid. We keep it simple and just do our job.
