Lakshmi Nagar is a busy place, and we are right in the middle of it at Vijay Chowk, G-1/B. If you walk past the main crossing, you’ll see our small shop. We mostly deal with phones and all the little problems people have with them. It gets pretty loud outside with all the horns and people shouting, but inside it’s a bit quieter, even with the radio playing in the background. We have these glass counters that we have to wipe down ten times a day because of the fingerprints. It’s just one of those things. I’ve been sitting in this same chair for years, watching the crowd go by outside the window. Sometimes someone comes in just to ask for directions or to use the charger for a minute. We don’t mind. The space is a bit tight, especially when we have more than three people waiting at once, but we make it work. The walls used to be a brighter white, but now they’re more of a greyish color from all the city dust. We keep a stash of SIM cards and cables in the back drawers where it’s a bit disorganized. It’s not a corporate office with fancy lights, just a local spot where we try to fix what’s broken. We usually close up once the streetlights come on and the market starts to thin out a bit. It’s a simple life, really, just keeping people connected in our own way.
