Our office is located in Dr Mukerjee Nagar. It’s an area mostly known for students and coaching, but we handle the import side of things from our small space here. We spend a lot of time on the computer checking customs rules and tracking where containers are. It isn't as exciting as it sounds. Mostly it is just a lot of emails and phone calls to people at the ports or suppliers overseas. We’ve been in this building for a while. The stairs are a bit narrow and there’s always a lot of foot traffic outside from the students. We don't have a showroom because we don't sell to individuals walking in off the street. We deal with businesses that need things brought in from other countries. It's a lot of paperwork and making sure all the taxes are paid right. Sometimes things get stuck in shipping for weeks and we have to explain that to our clients. We aren't a giant company with a glass building. Just a few desks and some filing cabinets. We know the import business well enough to get things through. It gets busy at the end of the financial year. Most days we are just here from nine till six, making sure the logs are updated. The coffee in this area is mostly for students, so it's very sugary, but we drink it anyway to stay alert during long calls. We have maps pinned to the wall showing different trade routes.
