Mukesh Tent & Caterers

Mukesh Tent & Caterers is based in Begampur Village, which is a place that still feels a bit like a village even though the city has grown up all around it. We do two things here: we provide the tents and we cook the food for parties. It is a lot to manage, and our yard is always full of big cooking pots, gas cylinders, and bundles of tent fabric. When there is a big event, the whole place turns into a hive of activity. We have cooks who have been with us for years, and they know how to make large quantities of food without losing the taste. The smell of spices and woodsmoke is often hanging in the air around our storage area. We have some old metal trunks where we keep the serving spoons and plates, and everything has to be washed and counted after every job. Begampur has its own rhythm, and we are a part of that. Sometimes we are setting up a small canopy for a birthday and other times we are preparing a full feast for a wedding. It is physically demanding work, lifting heavy crates of vegetables and dragging large carpets across the ground. We don't have a fancy office, just a desk in the corner of the shed where we keep our notebooks. We deal with the heat and the rain and just make sure the party goes on. It is what we know.
