Monu Dj is based right on Teekli Road in Gurgaon. We are directly across from the police station, which is a pretty easy way to tell people where to find us. The shop isn’t very big, mostly just filled up with speakers, amplifiers, and a whole lot of tangled cables that we are always trying to keep organized. It’s a bit of a dusty area because of all the construction and traffic on Teekli Road, so we are constantly wiping down the gear. Most nights we are out late at different events, so the mornings here are usually pretty quiet while we recover. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. Usually, people just see our van parked out front and stop by to talk. The shelves are stacked with different lights and sound boards that have seen a lot of use over the years. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading heavy boxes, which is definitely the hardest part of the job. Gurgaon has changed a lot, but this little stretch near the station feels the same as it always has. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on plastic chairs until it comes back on. It is a simple life of moving equipment from one place to another and making sure the music actually plays when it is supposed to. We just do our work and head home when the job is done.
