This is Malhotra Mobile Shop, situated over at Gole Market, Bhagat Singh Market 124. It’s been our spot for a few years now. We deal with all sorts of mobile phones, mostly fixing the ones people drop or those that just stop turning on. The shop is a bit cramped because of all the boxes of phone covers we have stacked in the corners. You’ll find us sitting behind the glass counter most of the day. It’s a lively part of the market, always someone walking past or looking for a deal. We do a lot of second-hand deals too, people bringing in their old sets and looking for something else. I keep a logbook for all the repairs, though my handwriting isn't the best. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings over some chai and we chat for a bit while I work on a motherboard. It’s not a corporate store with uniforms or anything like that. We just wear our regular clothes and get to work. The tools for opening up the phones are scattered on the back desk under a bright lamp. It takes a lot of patience to deal with those tiny screws and ribbons inside. We see a lot of people every day, some looking for the latest gadgets and others just wanting a cheap cable that won't break in a week. We keep the shop open until the market starts to quiet down at night and the street lights come on. It’s a steady, simple life here in the market.
