Jawa Telecom sits right here in Azadpur, tucked inside Nawab Ganj near Azad Market at shop number 9888. Most days start early when the market begins to wake up. We spend a lot of time looking at broken screens or trying to figure out why a phone won't charge properly. It's not fancy work but it keeps the day moving. The area gets really crowded by noon with people pushing carts and looking for things in the market. We have been here for a good while now, so we know many of the faces that pass by the door every morning. Sometimes people just stop in to ask for directions or to see if their balance reached. Working in a place like this means you deal with all sorts of small problems. One minute it is a sim card not working and the next it is someone needing a new cable because their dog chewed the old one. We try to keep things simple and just do what needs doing. The shop isn't huge but we have managed to fit what we need inside the walls. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic outside but that is just how it is in this part of town. We keep the lights on until late most nights because that is when people coming home from work usually realize they need something for their phones. It is just a regular life here in the market and we just do our part.
