You can find us at B-76 near the Nathu Colony Chowk in Jagatpuri. It’s a bit of a unique business because things really only get crazy around the big festivals. Most of the year, it’s a lot of inventory management and making sure everything is stored safely according to the rules. The shop is full of boxes stacked high, and there is a very distinct smell of paper and sulfur if you stand still long enough. We have to be very careful with how we handle things, so there’s no smoking anywhere nearby and we keep everything dry. When Diwali gets close, the whole mood changes. The shop gets crowded with parents and kids looking at all the different boxes with bright pictures on them. It’s a lot of noise and excitement. I spend those weeks on my feet from morning until late at night, helping people pick out what they want. Outside, the chowk is always jammed with traffic, which makes deliveries a bit of a headache sometimes. We’ve been in this spot for a long time, and people know where to find us when they need something for a celebration. It’s a seasonal rhythm, very quiet for months and then incredibly busy for a few weeks. I mostly just try to keep things orderly and make sure the shelves stay stocked when the rush starts. It’s a lot of pressure but we’ve gotten used to it.
