Being at Harkesh Nagar Main Chowk means there is never a moment of silence. The shop at D 115 is right in the middle of all the action. You can hear the horns honking and the rickshaws rattling past the door all day long. It gets very dusty, so I’m always cleaning the glass cabinets. I usually have a pile of phones waiting to be repaired on the back shelf. People stop by to ask for directions almost as much as they ask for mobile recharges. The space is a bit cramped because I store a lot of old spare parts in boxes under the table. I don't like throwing things away if they might be useful later. Lunch is usually something I bring from home and eat quickly behind the counter while watching a video. In the summers, the heat is quite bad since the shop faces the afternoon sun directly. I have a small cooler that helps a bit, but it’s still tough. Most of my regulars are laborers from the nearby area who need their phones for calling home. I try to get things done quickly so they don't have to wait too long. By the time I pack up at night, the chowk is still busy with people getting dinner. It’s a tiring job but I’m used to the rhythm of this place.
