If you know Lajpat Nagar IV, you probably know how crowded Amar Colony gets. We are at D-84, tucked in among all the other shops and the food stalls that make this area so famous. Being Hutch, we mostly deal with people coming in because their phones aren’t working right or they need a new connection. It’s a small space, so when three or four people come in at once, it feels very full. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and explaining data plans or why a signal might be weak in certain parts of the colony. The tea stall next door is always busy, so there’s a constant smell of ginger tea and fried snacks coming in through the door. It’s not a quiet job. People are always in a hurry here in Delhi, wanting their SIM cards activated right this second. We sit behind the counter, handle the paperwork, and try to get through the queue. On rainy days, the lane outside gets a bit muddy, and we have to keep mopping the floor because of all the footprints. It’s just how it is. We’ve been at D-84 for a long time, and most of the local residents know us by name now. We don’t do anything fancy, just help with the mobile stuff and keep the shop open until late evening when the market finally starts to quiet down.
