If you stand outside our shop at the Katwaria Sarai Main Bus Stand, you’ll hear the conductors shouting all day long. Being at 124/9 makes us a very busy spot because people are always waiting for their ride. We mostly deal with phone recharges and fixing small issues with mobiles. People walk in with cracked screens or phones that won’t charge, looking worried. The shop is small, barely enough room for three people to stand comfortably. I spend a lot of time behind the counter looking at tiny screws and wires under a lamp. My eyes get tired by six o'clock. We also sell those colorful phone covers that hang on the wall. They get a bit dusty because of the buses passing by so close. Sometimes someone just wants a printout of a document or a new SIM card. It gets really loud when two buses pull up at once. I usually have a cup of tea sitting next to the computer, often getting cold because a customer came in. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the name and the work we do. It’s a simple life here. I know most of the bus drivers by face now. They sometimes pop in to ask for the time or a quick recharge. The shop's floor is always covered in tiny bits of plastic wrap. I sweep it out every night before locking the shutter. It’s just a small part of the daily routine here at Hira Moti Communication.
