If you come down to Vinod Nagar in Mandawali and look for C 113, you’ll find me at Gupta Electrical Store. I spend most of my time surrounded by coils of wire, switches, and boxes of LED bulbs. It gets really busy when the weather changes, especially in the summer when everyone’s fans and coolers start breaking down at the same time. I’ve been working with electrical stuff for years, and I’ve seen how everything has changed from those old yellow bulbs to these new ones. The shop is a bit cramped because I try to stock as much as I can, so people don’t have to go all the way to the bigger markets. Sometimes I’m behind the counter, and other times I’m helping someone figure out why their fuse kept blowing. It's a local neighborhood, so I know most of the electricians who come in to buy supplies for their jobs. I don't really do much advertising; people just know we're here. My son helps out after his classes sometimes, though he’s more into his phone than the inventory. We aren’t a fancy showroom with bright lights, just a practical place where you get what you need for your house. I keep a diary of what’s in stock, but half the time I just know where things are by memory. It’s a lot of lifting heavy boxes and climbing ladders, but it keeps me moving through the day. I like being here.
