Gulati Tent & Light

Gulati Tent & Light is over in Subhash Nagar at 5/108. It’s a pretty straightforward setup we have here. If you walk by, you’ll probably see us loading poles onto the truck or checking the bulbs in the strings of lights we use for events. It’s physical work and it can get pretty tiring, especially when the weather isn’t helping. We spend a lot of time untangling wires and making sure the fabric for the tents is clean and folded right. It’s not a quiet job. There’s always the sound of metal clanking or someone shouting instructions across the yard. We’ve seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood over the years but we stay right here. Most of our days are spent checking schedules and making sure we have enough hands to get the heavy stuff moved. Sometimes we’re out late setting things up and other times we’re up early to take it all down. It’s just the way the tent business goes. The shop isn’t much to look at, just a place where we keep the gear and get the work done. We don't have a big front desk or anything like that. If someone stops by, they usually just find us in the middle of a task. We just try to keep the equipment in good shape so it’s ready when the next job comes around in the calendar. It is hard work but it keeps the neighborhood bright.
