Gita Press Delhi

Gita Press Delhi is located on Nai Sarak, near the Jama Masjid area. It is a very old part of the city and the streets are always packed with people and rickshaws. Our building is at Plot No.2609. Nai Sarak is famous for books, so we fit right in with all the other shops around us. We have a lot of religious texts and small pamphlets that people come to buy. Most of the time, people are looking for something specific for their prayers or for a gift. The shop is quite simple. We have large wooden tables where we pile the books. It is not the kind of place where things are perfectly lined up. We like it that way. It feels more like a home. The heat in the summer can be quite bad because the old buildings trap the warmth, but we have a few fans that help. We hear the calls from the masjid nearby throughout the day. It provides a nice rhythm to our work. We aren't trying to be a modern bookstore with coffee or sofas. We are just here to provide the books that people have been reading for generations. Our staff has been here for years, and we all know each other's families. It is a steady, quiet business amidst the chaos of Delhi. We open the shutters in the morning and stay until the market starts to wind down.
