Dixit Telecom Center

Dixit Telecom Center sits in Okhla Industrial Estate Phase I at A1/42. This part of town is mostly factories and big warehouses, so it is quite dusty and noisy most of the time. Our shop is just a small unit where we handle mobile phones and things like that. A lot of the workers from the nearby units come here during their lunch break to get their phones fixed or to put some money on their talk time. We have a couple of glass cases that are mostly full of chargers, earphones, and second-hand phones that people traded in. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to actually do it. There is always a pile of broken phone screens in a box near the back door. We work under those long tube lights that hum a little bit if you listen closely. It is a practical place for a practical neighborhood. We don't have a fancy waiting area, just a wooden bench where people sit and wait for their repairs. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the entrance, and we have to go out and ask them to move. It is just the way things go in Okhla. We stay open until late because that is when most people finish their shifts and need their phones sorted out. It is just regular work, nothing too special about it, but it keeps the bills paid.
