I’ve been at 100 A Khel Gaon Marg for longer than I care to admit. The shop, Bitto Ji Communication, is just a small place packed with all sorts of things. Most mornings start with a struggle against the front shutter because the lock is getting old. Once I’m inside, it’s mostly about handling the local crowd that comes in needing help with their mobiles. People drop their phones on the pavement out there all the time, so I see a lot of broken glass. It’s not some polished showroom with bright lights. It’s more like a room filled with boxes and the smell of old plastic. We have shelves full of covers that I really should organize better one of these days. Sometimes the tea guy from next door comes in and we just sit for a minute while the traffic outside gets louder. I don’t have any fancy speeches to give. We just try to get the phones working again so people can go about their day. It’s often messy behind the counter with all the wires and spare batteries lying around. If a repair takes too long, I just tell the customer to come back after an hour. I like the neighborhood though, even when it’s chaotic. It’s just how life is here in this part of town, and we’re just part of the furniture at this point.
