Arya Tent House

Arya Tent House is right at Peepal Wala Chowk in Mohan Garden. It’s a landmark around here because of the big tree. We keep all our gear in a large storeroom nearby. Most of what we do involves moving heavy poles, folded tents, and stacks of chairs. When there is a function or a prayer meeting, we get the call. We load everything onto the back of a small truck and head out. It’s physical work. We have to set up the fabric and make sure the seating is arranged right. Sometimes it’s hot and we’re sweating under the sun, other times it’s raining and we’re rushing to cover things up. We have different colored cloths and some basic lighting stuff too. People come to the office at the chowk to talk about their dates and how many people are coming. I usually write everything down in a big register. We don’t have a fancy showroom. You just see some samples or photos of old setups we’ve done. My cousin helps with the labor and managing the guys. We’ve seen many weddings and parties in Mohan Garden over the years. It feels good to be part of the community celebrations. We try to be on time, but traffic near the chowk can be a nightmare sometimes. It’s just how it is running a tent business in this part of Delhi. We just keep our heads down and do the work we are given.
