My little shop is tucked away in Zakir Nagar at D 143/13. It’s a place where everyone knows everyone else. I usually open up a bit later in the morning because the street stays quiet until then. I’ve got some stools for people to sit on while they wait for their batteries to charge or their screens to be glued back on. The lighting isn't the best, so I use a desk lamp when I’m working on the tiny parts inside a mobile. There is always a smell of food from the neighbor’s kitchen drifting in around noon. I mostly sell basic things like earphones, chargers, and those plastic screen protectors. Sometimes I spend hours just trying to transfer photos for someone who bought a new device. It’s not complicated work, but it takes time and patience. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I keep a small radio playing in the background to keep me company. Most of the time, I’m just chatting with whoever walks in about the news or the weather. It’s a small life, but it keeps me busy enough. When the sun goes down, the street gets crowded with people out for a walk. I stay open until the last few people head home. That is my daily routine in Zakir Nagar.
