Welham Boys School

5 Circular Road is where you’ll find Welham Boys School. It’s an old part of the area, and the road itself has a lot of character. We’ve got these big trees that have been here for decades, shading the paths where the boys walk to their classes. It’s a busy place, but in a quiet sort of way. You don’t get the same noise here as you do in the middle of the market. The buildings are old stone and brick, and they need a lot of upkeep. We’re always painting something or fixing a roof. The boys stay in the dorms, so the school never really sleeps. There’s always someone around, whether it’s a night watchman or a teacher finishing up some grading. In the mornings, you hear the birds first, then the sound of shoes on the gravel. It’s a very specific routine we have. We eat together in the dining hall, and then it’s off to the classrooms. The grounds are kept as neat as we can manage, though the leaves are always falling and creating a bit of a mess. It’s a lot of history here, but we don't talk about it much, we just live it. It’s a place where you learn to be part of a group. 5 Circular Road is just home for us and for the boys who spend their years growing up here. We just do things our way.
