Universal Academy School

Down at Lane Number C-22 on Turner Road in Clement Town, you’ll find Universal Academy School. Dehradun has changed a lot lately, but this part of Clement Town still feels fairly settled. Our school sits in a spot that’s easy enough to reach for families living around Turner Road. It’s a basic setup, really. We have classrooms for different grades and a space where the kids gather for assembly in the morning. You can hear the principal's voice over the loudspeaker if you’re standing near the gate at 8:00 AM. The teachers here mostly focus on the textbooks and making sure the students are prepared for their exams. We don’t have a lot of flashy stuff, just desks, boards, and books. During the winter, the mornings are quite chilly, so everyone comes bundled up in their sweaters. By lunchtime, the sun usually warms up the yard where the students eat their tiffins. We see a lot of the same families year after year, with younger brothers and sisters following their older siblings. It’s a regular routine of classes, homework, and the occasional sports day in the nearby field. We try to keep the grounds decent, though the mountain dust finds its way into everything. It isn’t anything out of the ordinary, just a local school trying to get the job done for the kids in this part of Dehradun. Most people just walk or take a cycle rickshaw to get here.
