You will find us on the Bypass Road in Gumaniwala, which is part of Rishikesh but still sits in the Dehradun district. It is a nice area because you can see the hills from the school on a clear day. The air feels a bit fresher here than it does right in the middle of a big city. The school building sits back from the road. We have a lot of kids who come from the local villages and the nearby housing areas around Gumaniwala. The morning starts early here. The sound of the school bus is the first thing we hear every day. We have a pretty large ground where the kids play during their break. It is common to see them running around even when it is quite warm out. The classrooms are basic and functional for our needs. We have a lot of charts on the walls about science and history that the teachers put up. The staff often chat in the hallway between periods about their families. It is a friendly place, and most of us know each other's names quite well. We do not go in for big speeches or fancy events every week. We just try to get the teaching done and keep things moving. In the rainy season, the hills look very green, but the road outside can get a bit muddy and slow. We just carry on with our work. It is a quiet life here at the school.
