The Greenwood Public School

The Greenwood Public School is located right near the railway station in Chudiyala. We have been here for a good while now, and it is mostly local kids from the nearby houses who come to study with us. The rooms are pretty basic, but we try our best to keep them clean and tidy for the students. In the morning, you can often hear the trains passing by while the children are doing their assembly in the yard. It gets a bit dusty being so close to the tracks, but we just sweep it out and keep going. We have a few teachers who travel from the nearby towns every day. The playground isn't anything fancy, just a bit of open ground where we try to keep the weeds down so the kids can run around at lunch. Parents often stop by the gate to have a quick word with us before they head off to work. The building itself is just brick and paint, and sometimes the power goes out, so we just open the windows to let the light in. We keep a small corner with some books for them to look at when they finish their work early. It is about getting the basics right, like reading and writing and making sure they learn how to behave. Most of the families around here work hard, and they expect their children to do the same at school. We just take things one day at a time here.
