Mussoorie Public School

Mussoorie Public School is found at Pratap Bhawan on Camel Back Road. Being up here in Mussoorie, the location is quite different from schools down in the plains. Camel Back Road is a place where a lot of tourists walk, so we see people strolling by all day. Pratap Bhawan is an old building with a bit of character to it. It has thick walls and those old-style windows. It gets very cold here in the winter months, and sometimes the mist comes right into the corridors. We all have to wear heavy coats to keep warm during the morning assembly. The views are nice, but most of the time we are too busy looking at textbooks to notice the mountains. The classrooms are a bit cramped because the building was not originally meant to be a modern school. We have wooden floors that creak when you walk on them. The staff here is like a small family because we are tucked away up on the hill. We have to carry all our supplies up the road, which can be a bit of a workout. Sometimes monkeys come onto the school grounds and we have to make sure the kids keep their lunch boxes closed. It is a unique place to work, even if it has its challenges like the steep walk and the chilly weather. We just go about our business quietly.
