Doon World School

We are located right on Raipur Road in Dehradun. It’s a busy part of the city, so there is always noise from the traffic outside our gates. The school has been here for a bit, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot. Inside, it’s mostly just the usual school stuff. We have the desks, the blackboards, and a lot of stairs to climb. The teachers are usually rushing between floors. Dehradun gets quite cold in the winters, so we all wrap up in sweaters and try to catch some sun during the break. In the afternoons, the gates get crowded with rickshaws and parents waiting. It’s a bit chaotic at three o'clock. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a place where kids come to learn their math and English. The playground isn't huge, but it's enough for a game of football or just sitting around. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to open all the windows. We spend a lot of our time filling out registers and checking homework. It’s regular work, nothing too exciting, but it keeps us on our toes. The building is painted a bright color so you can't really miss us if you’re driving down the road. We know most of the shopkeepers nearby. It feels like we are just part of the local scenery now, another building on the way to the city center.
