Yogalaxmi Knits

Over on Sathyamoorthy Street, at number 3, that’s where Yogalaxmi Knits is based. Vengamedu is a place where a lot of this kind of textile work happens. You can hear the hum of machines from the street sometimes when the windows are open. Our building isn't very large, but we pack a lot into the space we have. There are bags of yarn and finished pieces stacked up in the corners. It’s a bit cramped, honestly, but we know where everything is kept. The lighting isn't perfect, but it’s enough to see the stitches clearly. We spend most of our time hovering over the equipment or checking the quality of what comes off the line. It’s repetitive work, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a pile of finished goods at the end of the shift. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to handle social media. We just focus on the knitting. Sometimes the power goes out in the neighborhood and we all just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. That’s just how it is here in this part of town. Most of the people working here have lived in Vengamedu their whole lives. We know each other well, which makes the long hours go by a bit faster. It’s just a small local knit shop doing what we know how to do best. We keep the machines running and the orders filled.
