Sri Saravana Stores

Sri Saravana Stores sits right on Gandhi Road, so we are always in the middle of the local traffic and noise. It’s a general store where we keep a bit of everything that people in the neighborhood might need. The shelves are packed from the floor to the ceiling, and sometimes it's hard to find things if you don't know the layout. We have been here for a long time, and the building shows its age a bit. The floor tiles are cracked in some places, and the front door squeaks every time someone walks in. We open up early to catch the people heading to work and stay late for those coming home. Gandhi Road is never really quiet, so there’s always a background of honking horns and people talking. We have a small counter where we ring up the sales, and there’s usually a stack of newspapers nearby. We know most of our customers by their faces, if not their names. It’s a simple way of living, just minding the shop and chatting with the neighbors. Sometimes the local kids come in looking for sweets after school. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It's just a regular shop with basic wooden shelves and a ceiling fan that works most of the time. We try to keep the stock replenished, but sometimes we run out of things when the delivery truck is delayed. It’s just how it is.
