Winlac Paints is based out of the Madurai Automobile Industrial Estate. Our address is B-46 in Kappalur. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always a lot of noise and trucks moving around. We have been mixing paint here for a while. The walls of our unit are probably covered in more colors than we actually sell. It’s a practical space. We have the mixing vats and the storage for the pigments. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and by the end of the day, most of us have some spots of white or yellow on our clothes. Madurai gets very hot, so we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning. We don't bother with fancy brochures. Most people know us because they work in the same estate or they’ve heard about our buckets from someone else. We deal with a lot of local contractors and shops. Sometimes the supply of raw materials is a bit late, and we have to scramble to finish an order. It’s just the reality of running a factory. We are just a group of people who know how to make paint that sticks. Nothing more, nothing less. You can find us right there in the B-block of the estate. It’s a bit messy with all the tins lying around, but we know where everything is. We just keep our heads down and get the mixing done.
