Asian Textile Mills

Our place is No. 6 E in M. S. Garden, over in the Karugampalayam area of Somanur. It’s a bit of a quiet spot compared to the big city mills, but there is always a lot going on inside the gates. Asian Textile Mills has been part of this community for quite some time. Somanur is known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the neighbors. The garden area isn't really a garden with flowers, it’s more of a developed layout for businesses. We have a decent amount of space for the machines inside. They make a rhythmic thumping noise that you eventually stop noticing after a few hours of work. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes in this area, the silence is actually quite strange. We have a few locals working with us who have been here since the start. It's a straightforward operation. We get the raw materials in and process them into textiles. There is always a layer of dust on the shelves from the cotton, no matter how much we clean up. We usually keep the main doors open to let the breeze through because it gets hot in the afternoons. If you're looking for us, just ask anyone in Karugampalayam for No. 6 E. We aren't hard to find. It's a practical way to earn a living and we just keep the machines running as much as we can.
