Vasthraa Weavers

You can find Vasthraa Weavers over at 17 A 1 Lb Colony in Peelamedu. It’s a decent-sized space but we’ve managed to fill it up with all sorts of things over the years. We spend our days mostly dealing with fabrics and threads. There’s always a bit of lint in the air and the sound of work going on. It’s a local spot, nothing like those big factories you see in the news. We’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time. The street is usually quiet, which helps when we need to concentrate on a tricky bit of work. Our setup is pretty basic. We have some heavy tables and some racks for the finished pieces. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late and we have to stay late to get them sorted. It’s just how it goes. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us doing the work. Peelamedu is a busy part of town but our specific colony feels a bit more tucked away. We often have a pot of coffee going in the back. The walls are covered in notes and samples we’ve collected. It looks a bit chaotic to an outsider, but we know where everything is. Most of our neighbors are friendly and we’ve known them for years. We just keep our heads down and focus on what’s in front of us. It’s a lot of hours, but it’s what we do for a living.
