Our office is tucked away in the Shan Complex on Thadagam Road. If you’ve ever been to R. S. Puram, you know how the traffic can get during the rush hour. We spend most of our mornings just trying to organize the samples that come in. It’s a lot of back and forth with the mills and the transport guys. The room is usually filled with the smell of new cotton and the sound of the ceiling fan clicking. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who have been working together for a long time. We know which rolls of cloth are sitting in which corner even if it looks like a mess to someone else. Sometimes we stay late because a shipment got delayed and we have to wait for the truck to show up at the gate. It’s not the kind of job where you sit still for very long. My desk is usually covered in scraps of paper and thread samples. We don't really bother with fancy decorations because we need every inch of space for the goods. People stop by the complex all day, so there’s always noise coming from the hallway. We just try to keep things moving by being honest about when stuff will be ready. It’s hard work, but we like being right here in the middle of everything in Coimbatore. It is a good place to be.
