You can find Veejay Lakshmi Engineering Works Pvt Ltd over on Scheme Road, right near Race Course Road. It’s an industrial sort of area, so there is always a lot of noise from trucks and machinery moving around. Inside our gates, it’s mostly just a lot of steel and the smell of cutting oil. We have been doing this for years, and the workshop has that look of a place where actual work happens every single day. There’s grease on the floors and the walls are stained, but that’s just how an engineering shop is supposed to be. We don't have a fancy reception area with soft chairs. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us in overalls or just plain shirts, likely covered in some sort of dust. The machines are old but they run well enough for the jobs we take on. We don't go in for big speeches or corporate talk. We just look at the drawings, set the lathes, and get to it. Some days are longer than others, especially when a machine breaks down or a shipment is late. The heat can get pretty bad under the tin roof in the summer months, but we just drink a lot of water and keep going. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do here on Scheme Road. We just keep our heads down and finish the work the best we can.
