Karpagam Engineering Works

You can find us over at 10A Nehru Street in Thottipalayam. It's under the Chinniyampalayam Post. We do engineering work here, mostly mechanical stuff. The shop has been around for some time now and hasn't changed much. We have a few old machines and some sturdy workbenches where we handle whatever jobs come through the door. It’s mostly metalwork and repairs for local machinery that’s broken down. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy outside. The noise from the lathes and drills is usually how people know we're actually inside working. It’s a dusty place, to be honest. We wear our old, stained clothes and just get to the task. Sometimes the work is easy and quick, other times it takes all day to figure out how to fix a stubborn part. We don't use any fancy corporate talk here. We just look at the piece of metal and see what needs doing to make it right again. The floor is concrete and usually has some oil spots on it that never really go away. That's just part of the job we do. We grew up around machines, so being here feels natural to us. We’re not trying to be the biggest or most famous shop in town. We just want to do the work properly so the local machines keep running. It’s a quiet street most of the time, except for the sounds from our shop. We drink a lot of tea while we work and listen to the radio. If you need something welded or turned on the lathe, this is our place.
