Down here on Vannier Street in Karamadai, things move at their own pace. We are Veejay Lakshmi Engineering Works Ltd, and we’ve been part of this Coimbatore community for a long time. Our place at number 16 is usually buzzing with the sound of machines and people talking over the noise. It isn't a silent office by any means. There’s always grease on someone's hands and blueprints spread out on the tables. We don't have fancy leather chairs or glass walls. It’s more about the heavy metal and the tools we use every day. The weather in Coimbatore can be nice, but when it gets humid, the workshop feels it. We just keep the vents open and keep working. People around Karamadai know where to find us. We aren't the type to put out big advertisements or talk ourselves up. The work we do just gets loaded onto trucks and sent off. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. We just show up early, get the machines started, and see what the day brings. Sometimes things go smooth, other times we have to fix a machine that’s acting up, but that’s just engineering life. It’s a solid way to make a living and we’re glad to be doing it here on this street.
